Shaheen joined OxLEP on 1 April 2019 as the Skills for Business Executive. Over the past 20 years, Shaheen has spent the majority of her career working in housing and regeneration – this has been with both central and local government, a university and a housing association, civil service and more recently a government agency.
Shaheen has worked in London, Southampton, Birmingham, Eastbourne, Bristol and Oxford.
After starting her career as a Housing Assistant at the University of Southampton, Shaheen moved into management roles in research, policy and strategy in Local Government to lead on delivering fit for purpose strategies and developing evidence-based policy. She then successfully pursued roles in performance management, business planning, strategy and project management.
The most relevant and recent role as the South West Strategy Manager for Homes England in Bristol enabled her to deliver business plans that focussed on increasing the supply of homes in the South West and involved working across a number of sectors, OGDs and partnerships including the LEPs.
Shaheen progressed to a Programme and Project Management role at Homes England and worked in partnership with MHCLG to roll out a programme nationally for lean continuous improvement to achieve efficiencies from a programme of projects across the organisation.
Shaheen has an MSc in Environmental Impact Assessment with a particular interest in research and is also an accredited Lean Six Sigma Green Belt (Project Leader).
She is keen to share her skills, knowledge and experience in her role at OxLEP.
