A guide to PR – Five things journalists hate
We are joined by the very accomplished journalist and PR guru, Fiona Scott from Fiona Scott Media Consultancy.
“What actually is PR?” is a question that baffles so many people when they’re starting out on their PR journey. They don’t really understand what it is, what it isn’t, how important it is and why it is so crucial to business success. In truth, PR is about being visible to all of our audiences, internal and external, consistently and in the correct way. It is also about getting our brand seen and known; building and protecting our reputation and raising our profile.
As Fiona says “Every business needs PR — every single one. There are no exceptions to that, once you understand what PR means in its purest sense. I believe business is 30% your skill or product, 30% the skill of business and the rest is PR.”
During this session, Fiona will share with us her talk on “Five Things Journalists Hate”, exploring what PR really means, what it does not mean and where the media fits in to a PR strategy.
Crucially she will also share how to NOT work with the media, and how to identify the right stories in your business, charity or organisation that will grab the attention of journalists.
