T Levels: Employer Information Session
T-Levels are new qualifications designed by the government as part of their vision for a world-class technical education system in England. They will be on a par with A Levels and will give young people across the UK a real choice between technical and academic education post 16.
The government are hailing this move as “…the most significant reform to advanced technical education in 70 years”. The course content will be created by expert panels of employers, will include a 3-month compulsory industry placement and all programmes will be quality assured by Ofqual and the Institute for Apprenticeships (IfA).
Whilst the introduction of these qualifications is still some way off, Abingdon and Witney College and OxLEP would like to take this opportunity to share what we know so far and give you the chance to inform us on how you would like certain elements of these programmes, in particular the three-month industry placements, to work for local businesses.
There will be a series of three short presentations, outlined below, follow by facilitated round-table discussions:
- 0800: Registration, breakfast and networking
- 0820: Welcome, introductions and H&S briefing
- 0830: ESFA Representative – introducing T Levels + Q&A
- 0900: BMW – how industry placements have worked for them + Q&A
- 0930: A&W College – Why industry placements are so important to our students + Q&A
