Your Business, Your Mission, and You

Come and learn how you can make your business profitable while also making a difference in the world.
So, you want your business to be profitable and also make a difference in the world.
How can you get that blend right and what are the ways you can make more positive impact on society and the environment?
Most importantly, what is it about you that is driving this, and how can you demonstrate to clients and other key stakeholders that you mean what you say and build a strong community of devoted supporters?
Who would benefit from this event?
This online workshop is aimed at business founders and senior management teams of SMEs, whether social enterprises, social entrepreneurs or purposeful businesses, based in Oxfordshire UK.
What will you come away with?
This session aims to give you a different perspective about what drives you, how you can use your business to achieve what you are aiming for, the ways in which you can make more positive impact in all areas of your business operation, and importantly, how you can communicate this to your clients and other key stakeholders.
We will also look at some local exemplars and the ways in which they bring their own lived experiences and/or personal motivations to their businesses and communicate this to their customer base and the wider community.
About the speaker
Grant Hayward, Enterprise Support Manager at OSEP
Grant Hayward developed his career in business specialising in sales, procurement, IT and operations and was involved in a management buyout, also acquiring other businesses and eventually selling to a competitor.
In 2008 after 30 years working in that sector, he relocated to Oxfordshire, and began to question his purpose and became determined to use whatever experience and expertise he had gained to help promote and support business as a force for good.
After taking a significant change of direction working in the voluntary sector for a few years, he set up a small consultancy business, working with clients including OXLEP and the two universities. He came across the B Corp movement when the founders visited Oxford in 2015, soon after trained with them as a "B Leader” to support those seeking to certify, and has been a champion of B Corps since then.
He is currently Co-Chair of the Oxfordshire+ B Local, a local network of B Corps and B Leaders and also provides 1:1 business support with OSEP (www.osep.org.uk), through an OxLEP eScalate programme. Grant also sits on the Oxford Strategic Partnership, Economic Growth Steering Board, the Steering Group of the Oxfordshire Inclusive Economy Partnership and the OxLEP Business Support Sub-Group.
