The sixth annual Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Awards will once again shine a spotlight on our county’s apprentices – and the businesses and organisationstraining providers and schools that support their journey – recognising the huge contribution they make to our county’s economy at a live virtual ceremony on Thursday 19 May 2022.

We’re delighted to introduce Abingdon & Witney College as a sponsor of the Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Awards 2022. The College is renowned for working in partnership with thousands of local people employers and wider stakeholders in the region to change lives and communities by delivering vocational professional and technical training of the highest quality in an inclusive and responsive way.

Here Ed Collett Head of Business Development at Abingdon & Witney College explains why the College has chosen to sponsor the Awards and what apprenticeships mean to them.

Why are you supporting the Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Awards?

Every week our apprentices take their first steps towards amazing careers in all types of industries. They are of all ages from all walks of life and all have the opportunity to gain valuable skills and really make a difference to their organisation. We are incredibly proud of the role we play in delivering apprenticeships and so it was only natural that we wanted to support this event.

What would you say to anyone thinking about entering or nominating?

We’re continually astonished and proud of all the achievements of apprentices in Oxfordshire. Winning an award is fabulous recognition of the hard work and determination that goes into apprentice’s success therefore we would say GO FOR IT!

Tell us about your organisation’s experience of Apprenticeships

Local employers come to us when they need an apprentice and we help them to recruit the right person. They also come to us if they have recruited an apprentice themselves and want to get them onto a programme. Not only that but we employ and train our own apprentices working at Abingdon & Witney College!  All in all we would say that as an organisationwe couldn’t speak more positively about apprenticeships.
