The Oxfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership is searching for a senior business leader to join its ambitious Board

The Oxfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership (OxLEP) believes the county’s ‘world-leading’ economy will be the catalyst in attracting an ambitious new non-executive director to its Boardrepresenting the internationally-significant Science Vale UK.

OxLEP – one of 37 local enterprise partnerships in England – is looking to recruit a further non-executive director to its Board at a time when Oxfordshire and in particular Oxford continues to reaffirm a world-leading economic position.

Last autumn – PwC’s ‘Good Growth for Cities’ report cited Oxford as being one of the two highest-performing cities – in relation to growth – anywhere in the UK. This followed a study by Irwin Mitchell that revealed Oxford had the second fastest-growing economy of any UK city.

The Board vacancy is ‘geographically-focussed’ and would see OxLEP recruiting a new non-executive director that currently works within the Science Vale area – a dynamic business location which includes Culham Science Centre Milton Park and Didcot Garden Town  and stretches across to Harwell Campus.

Once appointed the new non-executive director would join the OxLEP Board ahead of its next meeting in June.

OxLEP’s chief executive – Nigel Tipple – says that being part of the OxLEP Board not only means making a positive impact with the Oxfordshire business communitybut also gives new members a chance to play a key role in an economy that has genuine international strengths and opportunities.

Mr Tipple said: “This is an excellent time for an ambitious business leader – representing the Science Vale area – to join our Board of non-executive directors.

“Over the next 12 months and beyondfurther developments around the county’s £215million growth deal and the National Infrastructure Commission’s ‘Oxford-Cambridge Corridor’ recommendations will evolve we want to continue to play our part in boosting UK productivity through the development of our Local Industrial Strategy – just one of three government-supported trailblazers nationwide.

“As a member of our Board the new non-executive director will undoubtedly play a significant role in ensuring Oxfordshire and in particular – the Science Vale area and the role it has to play – remains at the heart of a dynamic ‘UK PLC’.”

In totalOxLEP currently oversees a £2.2bn growth programme for the county.

Mr Tipple added that OxLEP will be aiming to attract candidates from across the Science Vale business community.

He added: “We aim to recruit a high-calibre individual to our Board who has genuine influence in Science Vale and – in doing so – supports our vision for Oxfordshire as a ‘vibrant sustainableinclusive and world-leading economy’.

The closing date for non-executive director applications is Monday 30 April at 5pm.
