Shining stars at the Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Awards

This year’s Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Awards took place last night (24 April) at Blenheim Palace in Woodstockwith dozens of young people and businesses celebrating apprenticeship success.

Around 130 guests saw apprentices schools training providersemployers and Apprenticeship Ambassadors recognised for their achievements and commitment to apprenticeships in Oxfordshire.

The overall apprentice of the year award went to Katie Chegwin – a business administration apprentice at the University of Oxford – who also won the higher apprentice of the year award.

There are currently around 300 types of apprenticeships in Oxfordshirecovering more than 1500 job roles in the county.

The Chief Executive of Oxfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership (OxLEP) – Nigel Tipple – spoke of the importance of the area’s continued focus on apprenticeships.

Mr Tipple said: ‘’Oxfordshire businesses are clearly committed to apprenticeships seeing them as a positive way of developing highly-trained workforces of the future.

‘’Discovering young talent can help organisations to stay ahead of competitors and in-turn support young people in making better-informed decisions as they move towards the world of work.’’
