Just last weekwe launched the Oxfordshire Local Industrial Strategy at our 2018/19 Annual Review Event at the Blavatnik School of Government in Oxford.

This part of the event saw OxLEP Director of Strategy and Programmes Ahmed Goga discuss how the strategy positions the county as one of the top three ‘global innovation ecosystems’ with commitment from businesses in the county playing a key role.

Guest speakers Dr Gordon Sanghera CEO of Oxford Nanopore Technologies and Sarah Haywood Managing Director of Advanced Oxford then reiterated how the key technologies and unique innovation assets cited in the Oxfordshire Local Industrial Strategy play a key role in the county’s ‘world-class’ potential.

OxLEP Chair Jeremy Long drew this part of the event to a close clarifying why Oxfordshire businesses should back the Local Industrial Strategy.

The UK Industrial Strategy and now the Oxfordshire Local Industrial Strategy are based upon the Five Foundations of Productivity which are key to improving economic prosperity: Ideas People Places Infrastructure and Business Environment.

In our latest vlog PR and Communications Apprentice Leona Weston takes us through what the ‘Places’ aspect of this entails and how you can expect to find out more at our next Q&A eventtaking place on Tuesday 24 Septemberas we ask: ‘Placemaking in Oxfordshire- what does it really mean?’
