The COVID-19 pandemic had unprecedented effects on a number of key sectors globally, with a real knock being taken to Oxfordshire’s once thriving hospitality and tourism industry.

With the hospitality sector acting as a key contributor to the Oxfordshire economy – supporting around 10% of all employment in the county, The City of Oxford College’s Hospitality Training Centre seeks to turn around this trend of falling hospitality enrolment for 16 to 18-year-olds and encourage greater industry support to drive curriculum development and industry experience.

This project has seen the provision of a specialist teaching area with ‘realistic’ working environments for the hospitality sector, in-line with supporting the growth of the visitor economy in Oxfordshire. This is set to have a major impact on both the hospitality and visitor economy sectors, as well as boosting tourism spend.
