To achieve our ambitious goals, we need a skills infrastructure in place that is aware of and responsive to the skills agenda in Oxfordshire.
Our priority is to empower and enhance the employability of those who are currently farthest from employment. We will provide the necessary support to overcome any barriers they may face.
In order to ensure the success of our economy, it is crucial to strike a better balance between government-funded education and training and the needs of our employers.
Our updated Local Skills Report and Plan builds upon efforts via the Oxfordshire Skills Board, who have implemented a more collaborative and coordinated approach to strategic skills development.
This includes working closely with schools and colleges to align career information and guidance with the economic demands of our region. We are also actively promoting apprenticeships and partnering with local training providers to expand education options in high-demand sectors sought after by our employers.
