The Future Oxfordshire Partnership

The Future Oxfordshire Partnership (formerly known as the Oxfordshire Growth Board) is a collaborative committee consisting of the six councils of Oxfordshire and key strategic partners, including OxLEP.

After a thorough public review in 2020, the Partnership established a new purpose. This purpose revolves around coordinating local efforts to manage economic, housing, and infrastructure development in an inclusive manner that maximises local social and environmental benefits.

Additionally, the Partnership focuses on supporting the development of local planning policies aligned with the UK Government’s goal of achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050. They aim to contribute towards biodiversity enhancement while embracing the changes necessary for a low carbon world.

Furthermore, the Partnership seeks to secure funding to pursue these objectives and oversee the implementation of related work programs assigned to it by the Joint Committee’s constituent local authorities.

The Partnership fulfils this role by overseeing collaborative projects in the realms of economic development and strategic planning undertaken by the councils of Oxfordshire and OxLEP.

Through this collaboration, Oxfordshire has successfully secured over £500m in additional investment, including through initiatives such as the City Deal, Housing and Growth Deal, Housing Infrastructure Fund, and the Oxfordshire Rail Connectivity Study. The Partnership also plays a crucial role in representing Oxfordshire on matters of regional interest.

The Partnership convenes six times annually to discuss issues facing Oxfordshire’s future, primarily in a non-decision-making capacity. It is supported by four Advisory Sub-Groups (Infrastructure, Environment, Housing, and Oxfordshire Plan 2050), a Scrutiny Panel, and a dedicated team of officers responsible for delivering on the Partnership’s work program.
